As some of you will remember periodically your technical team write a report on current issues and trends in order to keep all members up to speed.
Engines: the newly homologated engines are starting to get about now ,and we will have our first Loncin being tested by a regular racer on track .There have been a couple of GXV 390 failures but it's too early to say if there is any particular weakness.
Homologation : we continue to homologate a reasonable amount of machines , mainly tractors and have seen quite a few gazelles recently ( good choice for first mower)
Replacement panels : It has become apparent recently that people building and maintaining machines are increasingly fitting new panels without reference to the committee. Please read the section in the handbook. All replacement panels are looked at on a case by case basis ,there is no automatic right to change panels .The committee look at how damaged the panel may be, whether a replacement can be sourced either new or secondhand and only then will they make a decision.
Any panel change allowed will involve a panel made to the same spec as original ie grade of material, thickness, folds and holes.
In gp 3 lawn bugs you will only ever be allowed to change either the front or rear panel or deck not all of them as this would constitute a new build
Panel changes should be recorded in the log book

Be particularly careful about your fuel tank capacity ,which will be checked by measurement at scrutineering
Numbers: we are still seeing machines that do not have 4 clear numbers displayed , this is important to the Clark of the course ,crowd and commentary
